Program Benefits

01

No Costs for Parent(s)

The program is funded by donations and the community's use of our Pet Care Services to reduce the family's stress and financial burden.

02

No Time Restrictions

Accepted cases are provided support and care for as long as it takes for FTLOA to find the best furever home possible for the animal to thrive.

03

Home-Styled Care

When surrendered on-site where we operate cage-free, pets are placed into private, enriching spaces with all the accommodations of home and routine one-on-one love. Some animals may remain with their owners as fosters or get placed into a FTLOA Foster's home until adopted.

04

Emergency Care Included

Animals get sick, and can be injured. FTLOA will ensure all pets are routinely examined by a licensed veterinarian and provided the appropriate preventative health care. Emergency medical care will also be handled by us at no cost to the family.

05

Discretion & Anonymity

FTLOA takes maintaining confidentiality very seriously to ensure the safety and the comfort of the family that has chosen to rehome their pet.

There are a multitude of reasons why a family may come to the difficult decision to rehome a pet, but it can be one of the most compassionate decisions when it comes to the well-being of the animal.

Fur the Love of Animals will provide support to families looking to safely rehome their pet as well as provide on-site residency when space and resources allow. At this time, we cannot care for dogs at our facility.

Our Rehoming Support program is currently open to all residents of southern Vermont. Depending on resources and space, we may be able to aid pets whose families live further away also.

For those interested in seeking support through our rehoming program, you can start the process by submitting our Surrender Inquiry form. This helps us to collect all the information we will need to prepare your pet for its new furever home. If FTLOA can help, you will be asked to complete the Animal Questionnaire.

Please note that completing the Surrender Inquiry does not mean FTLOA will be able to intake the animal.

Our Rehoming Support program is entirely funded by the local community. Through donations—both monetary and in-kind—and through the use of our Professional Pet Care services, YOU are making this vital program possible.

At this time we CANNOT intake dogs on-site. If you are able to foster the dog until they are adopted, we can assist.
