Meet Elliott! This handsome sir is around 7 months old. Up until a few weeks ago, an elderly couple had been providing food and water outside for him, his siblings (Phantom and Avril LaQueen), and his mother. Elliott is a super affectionate boy. While initially shy, it doesn't take him long to warm up and he enjoys being snuggled.

On Tuesday, June 17th, Elliott was vetted and neutered. We ensure all of our feline rescues are microchipped, dewormed, provided a rabies and feline distemper vaccine, and given flea preventative before they are adopted. Elliott will be ready to go home by Tuesday, June 24th. He also tested negative for FeLV/FIV.

While at our home-based facility, Elliott has successfully been litter box trained, and he is receiving both wet and dry kitten food. Raised with his family and around other feral cats, Elliott is socially appropriate with other felines. He would likely do very well in a home with another cat or two for companionship. Living with a more confident feline friend would also help him become braver.

Being on the timid side and easily spooked by loud noises, Elliott would prefer a home with older children and without any young, rowdy dogs.

As we get to know him more, we will update his profile.

Meet Kevin! This mini-panther is an absolute doll! He loves to be around his people and will follow them around, especially when its feeding time. This fella has never turned a meal away in his life, and he gladly accepts all food offerings. Kevin has a blast playing with toys whether solo or with his person, and he especially adores interactive toys and those that make noise when tossed or interacted with. He's also a fan of cat nip, and may get a little feisty after sniffing the stuff.

Kevin was humanely captured by a resident of Brattleboro where there is an established community cat population. Less than 24 hours, Kevin proved he was far from feral. With his personality and overall good body condition, it is most likely that this guy was abandoned.

Kevin is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all veterinary services. He is estimated to be around 5 years old. He also tested negative for FeLV/FIV.

This handsome sir will likely do well with older, respectful children. He would also do fine with a cat-savvy dog, but he prefers feline companionship, especially the ladies.

If you're looking for a fun, chill feline friend that can at times act like separation from you is physically painful, than Kevin may be your guy!

Please Note: Kevin is very particular about the litter he prefers to use as well as its cleanliness. If his litter box is not cleaned daily (or even twice a day sometimes), he has had a few defecation accidents outside of the box. Kevin prefers clumping litter with finer grains.

Meet Augustus MeowWho, affectionately known as Auggie! Are there any fans of Jim Carrey's The Grinch Stole Christmas? Being an integral part of our founder's inside jokes with her spouse, it only seemed fitting to finally name a rescue in honor of their humor. Auggie is certainly a boisterous lad, too! Estimated to be between 6 and 7 months old, this kitten is FULL of energy, and for him zoomies are not only a night time activity. Fortunately, he thoroughly enjoys playing with toys of all kinds, and his favorites include coils, plush mice, and interactive games that entice him to chase and pounce.

Auggie was originally found living under a dumpster by a Brattleboro local. At the time, he was only a little over 2 months old and winter was in full swing. Fortunately, the kindhearted woman was able to get him inside late one night when she heard him crying at her door. The next day FLOA welcomed the scared little guy, and he was given a flea bath and lots of warm towel snuggles. It didn't take long for one of the founder's cats to take on the role of foster father. Orin helped raise Auggie, and he is now a confident fellow with an endless appetite. In fact, be sure to keep your snacks stocked away in cupboards! Auggie has been known to make attempts at stealing scraps, including from the sink.

Up-to-date on vaccinations, Auggie is neutered, microchipped, and he tested negative for FeLV/FIV. He is not currently receiving any medication or supplements, and he continues to develop appropriately.

Auggie spent the last few months around two dogs (one on the medium size and one larger). While he is not buddies with either dog, he accepts them in his space. With a slow introduction, Auggie will likely do fine in a home with a new dog roommate given the canine is cat-savvy and respectful. As Auggie can play very roughly, he would not do well with any senior animals or young children, but he would love to have another young cat friend!

Looking for an accomplished hunter? August has proven himself, but be warned, he will consume any rodents he catches. For enrichment, we have actually given Auggie frozen thawed feeder mice as well as dried minnows, and he loved both.

This bundle of love will bring joy to his new home and much entertainment!

Meet Avril LaQueen! This petite baby is an absolute sweetheart! She is friendly, affectionate, playful, and loves to be loved on. This walking biscuit-maker is part of our Vernon Colony Project. She was born to a feral and is estimated to be around 6 months old. Since arriving to our facility Avril has been dewormed and provided with a bath to remove all dirt. She has also blossomed! At this point, you would never know she spent the first half of her life homeless, and she quickly caught on to the purpose of a litter box.

After about a week with us, it became apparent that Avril is pregnant. She will likely give birth to her kittens within the next week or so (as of 05/04/25). Once the kittens are between 8 and 12 weeks old, weened and independent of mom, and fully vetted, they and Avril will be available for adoption. In the meantime, we are accepting applications for this precious lady.

Avril is very socially appropriate with felines and would do well with another cat or two in her furever home. She has not yet been dog tested, but she has shown no distress when the dogs in the home have barked. Being so young and confident, Avril will likely do well with a respectful, cat-savvy dog.

As soon as Avril has her kittens, we will update this post, including an anticipated date for her to be able to go to her new home.

Meet Phantom! This cutie patootie is around 6 months old. Up until a few weeks ago, an elderly couple had been providing food and water outside for her, her siblings, and her mother. Having grown up outdoors, Phantom is rather timid. Unlike her sister, Avril LaQueen, and her brother, Elliot, Phantom prefers to watch and observe while her siblings soak in all the human affection they can. Being so young, Phantom has great potential to come out of her shell; she just needs time and patience.

This Thursday, June 5th, Phantom will be vetted and spayed. We ensure all of our feline rescues are microchipped, dewormed, provided a rabies and feline distemper vaccine, and given flea preventative before they are adopted. Phantom will be ready to go home by Thursday, June 12th.

While at our home-based facility, Phantom has successfully been litter box trained, and she is receiving both wet and dry kitten food. Raised with her family and around other feral cats, Phantom is socially appropriate with other felines. She would likely do very well in a home with another cat or two for companionship. However, being that Phantom is fearful of quick movements and loud noises, she would prefer to go to a home without any dogs or young children.

As we get to know her more, we will update her profile.

Meet Wammawink! Formerly known as Baby Girl, Wammawink's namesake comes from a character in the TV show Centaurworld. Through the show, she affectionately refers to the protagonist as "Baby Girl" in a very distinctive way. Upon learning our intake's name, we immediately thought of Wammawink and how she expressively says "Baby Girl." It was just meant to be.

Wamma Mamma is a petite girl with super soft purrs and a barely audible meow. While she prefers to keep all four on the floor, she does fancy napping next to you if not occasionally on your lap. She enjoys a good cushioned chair or plush pet bed, and she becomes very excited about treats. If you are looking for a calm, low-maintenance, and adorable feline friend then Wammawink may just be your girl!

Wammawink currently shares her cat room with fellow senior, Boris. While she is not interested in playing with other cats, she does acclimate to new felines quickly. So long as they are respectful of her older lady ways, Wamma would do well in a home with another cat or two.

Being that she is a senior, older and gentle children would be best. While she may do well with an older, cat-savvy dog, Wammawink would thrive more so in a calm, quiet environment, thus puppies and rowdy dogs are not a good fit.

While Ms. Wamma still navigates her environment well, she is slowing down and showing hind end weakness, which is very common in older pets. Cat beds, perches, and other spaces dedicated to her use should be lower to the ground and easy to climb onto. Joint supplements may be beneficial, but always check with your veterinarian if you have any questions. An age-appropriate diet is highly recommended to ensure she is receiving the nutrients she needs to thrive as an older lady.

While they can certainly be adopted separately, Boris and Wammawink are excellent candidates for being adopted together.

Meet Boris! This kind old fella is ready to find the purrfect retirement home! Estimated to be between 14 and 15 years old, Boris is a happy guy who speaks his mind and provides impactful head bumps.

Since he came to FTLOA, he has been put on a diet to help him progress towards a more healthy weight. He was given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian and he is up-to-date on his vaccines. Boris is microchipped and FeLV/FIV negative.

Boris originally came from a home with small children, and he does very well with kids. While he was nervous for the first few days, he acclimated quickly and has proven to be very friendly. He is frequently found snoozing in his cat bed by the window or curled up in his blanket brought from his original home. When not napping, Boris adores playing with toys (especially at night), getting brushed, and snuggling next to you.

While Boris has been with us, he has been introduced to several cats, and he currently lives with our other senior, Wammawink. Boris has shown a preference for a female feline companion and tends to dislike other males. Being an older gent, the energy of a kitten may not be the best for him, but if they were a more gentle player and female it could be an adorable match!

Boris is scared of dogs and will not be adopted to a family with canine companionship.

While they can certainly be adopted separately, Boris and Wammawink are excellent candidates for being adopted together.

Meet Ula! This beautiful tortie has settled well into her new indoor lifestyle. Feral for over two years with an unknown history, it can understandably take Ula time to warm up. When she does, Ula can be very affectionate. She enjoys napping right beside you or in your lap, and will politely request attention when desired.

Ula does maintain stricter boundaries, and it's important to understand that her relationship to people is very different than cats raised around humans from kittens. With patience, respect, and kindness, Ula will thrive, and she will make a wonderful companion for the right person.

Due to her history, we will not adopt Ula to a household with young children, as her corrections could injure and scare them. Being a tortie, she indeed possesses the famous "tortitude." Ula does not like dogs and she will not tolerate sharing her space with another cat.

Ula loves Temptations cat treats and her "babies" (aka stuffed animals). While she's not a fan of cat nip, she does enjoy rubbing all over cat nip filled toys. Ula also enjoys chasing after little mouse toys thrown for her.

Ula can only be adopted by an experienced cat parent.

Meet Havok! This handsome pup is currently residing with a foster while seeking his furever home. Havok is used to living with another dog (female) and has shown submissive behavior when meeting new dogs. With proper introductions, he will likely do well and enjoy a canine companion. When it comes to people, Havok has lived with adults and seniors only. He has shown no preference between men and women.

His foster reports that he is a more vocal dog. He chuffs and barks when excited, and he does sound the alarm when there is a knock at the door or strangers walk by. Due to his separation anxiety, Havok would prefer a home where he can be around his family more often than not.

Due to his large size and having never been around kids before, we do not recommend he go to a home with young children. Older children may be fine. Havok does have a history of going after chickens, and with his high prey-drive he cannot live with cats or smaller free-roaming pets.
